FALSE ALARMS
COMMON CAUSES OF FALSE ALARMS:
Batteries
Ensure you have fresh batteries in your alarm, if they are getting low ensure you contact us to have us replace them or you can pick one up from our office located in Kentville, Nova Scotia. One of the main reasons for false alarms is dead batteries. If your system indicates you have a low battery, ensure you change it as soon as possible.
Pet Motion
If you have pets, and they are frequently setting off your alarm system, there are motion detectors available for you. Pet motion detectors can be installed that are not set off by animals of up to 90 lbs. or 3 feet by 3 feet.
Faulty Contacts
One layer of your security system is through door and window contacts. When someone opens a door or window when your system is armed, it causes your system to be set off. If your contacts are faulty or loose, they may trigger the alarm when no one has touched them or the door/window has not been opened. Contact us if this is happening with your system, one of our Alarm Technicians will correct this issue for you.
People
Sometimes false alarms occur because of people. One adult in the house may arm the system when the other adult living in the residence has yet to come home.
